In general, the depth of the needles penetrating the skin varies based on the selected meridian points, patient size, age and constitution. Needle penetration can be from as little as ¼ of an inch to one inch in depth. While the insertion of the needles are not felt to be uncomfortable, some people may feel a small sensation of cramping, heaviness distention, tingling, or electric sensation either around the needle or traveling up and sown the affected meridian or energy pathway.
