Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care involves the manipulation of the spine to perform a quick, specific stretch of those joints that are not moving properly.  This stimulates the Golgi tendon organs and stretch receptors, which tell the brain to let go of the overly tight muscles around the joints. Manipulation of the spine also gently breaks up any minor scar tissue. HEALTHPOINTE chiropractors provide therapy to help relax muscles, decrease pain and rehabilitate injured nerves, muscles and joints.

The most common chiropractic problem is hypomobility, which means that some vertebral segments have less motion than normal either through a single trauma or many mini-traumas (also known as continual microtrauma). Activities that contribute to hypomobile joints are computer work and daily lifting.

The ailments that respond to chiropractic treatment are broader than most people realize. They include neck pain, bursitis, arthritis, sciatica, whiplash, nausea, low back pain, trauma (sprain/strain), tendonitis, neuritis, arm and leg pain, torticollis (stiff neck), dizziness, and muscle spasms.

At HEALTHPOINTE, chiropractors work with other medical specialists, such as internists, rheumatologists and orthopedic surgeons, to diagnose and treat an employee’s presenting problem. Employees may be referred as a result of auto accidents or other on-the-job injuries to the neck and lower back.

On the first visit, a comprehensive examination is conducted that includes a thorough discussion of the employee’s complaints and a history of his injuries; an in-depth chiropractic spinal assessment; and if indicated, orthopedic and neurological testing and x-rays. After a complete review of the examination and test results, HEALTHPOINTE provides a comprehensive report of the findings. A personal treatment program is developed for those employees who we feel can benefit from chiropractic care, specific to their particular ailment. Patients requiring additional or alternate treatment are referred to an appropriate specialist.

In addition to standard care, HEALTHPOINTE chiropractors provide athletic training, rehabilitation and nutritional counseling. They also function as certified team physicians for sports and other activities and as qualified medical evaluators for certification of individuals for specific events and other purposes.
