Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care can be a benefit if you have had injuries to the nerves, muscles and/or joints (called neuromuscloskeletal injuries). Chiropractors manipulate one or more vertebrae or even joints in the arms and legs that are not moving properly, and they perform adjustments to the soft tissues (muscles and ligaments). While it sounds like cracking noises or pops, the manipulations are gentle and painless.
A common chiropractic problem is hypomobility, which means that some vertebrae in the spine have less motion than normal either through a single trauma or many mini-traumas. Activities that contribute to hypomobile joints are computer work and daily lifting.
Chiropractic care has a broad range of applications beyond manipulation to relieve pain from injury. It can help with migraine headaches, arthritis, tendonitis, chronic back or neck pain or stiffness, limited range of motion, and dizziness. At HEALTHPOINTE, chiropractors work with other medical specialists, such as internists, rheumatologists and orthopedic surgeons, to diagnose and treat your problem. Our chiropractors can also provide extended therapy to help relax muscles and rehabilitate injured nerves, muscles and joints.
On the first visit, our chiropractor will conduct a comprehensive examination, including a thorough discussion of the problem and your history of injury. The physical examination will include an in-depth chiropractic spinal assessment, including orthopedic and neurological testing, and x-rays, if warranted. After a complete review of the exam and test results, a personal treatment program will be developed for those patients who we feel can benefit from chiropractic care. Patients requiring additional or alternate treatment will be referred to an appropriate specialist.
HEALTHPOINTE chiropractors are highly trained health care specialists, spending thousands of hours in training—six years or more in college, earning a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree. They have extensive clinical experience caring for the human body without using drugs or surgery, and they have developed a comprehensive practice with the following specializations:
- Auto accident injuries, including whiplash
- Sports-related injuries, including sprains and strains
- Work-related injuries, including back pain from repeated activities
- Personal injuries, including those inflicted by a third party
If pain medication, rest or other therapies are not working, or you are experiencing less than normal functional, chiropractic care may be right for you.
