Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is a branch of rehabilitative health that uses specially designed exercises and equipment to help patients regain or improve their physical abilities. HEALTHPOINTE’s physical therapists coordinate with your physician to provide hands-on, one-to-one treatment involving exercise, education and functional training. Our goal is to make you a partner in your recovery so that you may perform exercises and necessary tasks on your own and eventually return to normal activities. We are a critical part of your care, and we can make a difference in your life.
On your first visit, a physical therapist will review your medical history and thoroughly examine you. He or she may take you through some light exercises and/ or apply specific therapeutic procedures, such as massage, heat or ice to help reduce pain.
Based upon your physician’s report and your current treatment status, your physical therapist will design an individualized program of exercises and activities. You will also be given exercises to do at home between therapy sessions
After your first visit, successive physical therapy appointments will be scheduled one or more times per week for a period of weeks, depending on your individual needs. Your therapist will guide you through increasingly more challenging exercise routines, which should slowly improve your strength and mobility. Other therapeutic procedures may also be employed.

HEALTHPOINTE’S Work Conditioning Program is a special physical therapy option for workers who are on modified work duty. It is the only program of its kind in Southern California. It helps patients apply proper body mechanics in real work stations, while improving strength, flexibility, stability and coordination in the gym. The program is appropriate for patients who have finished traditional physical therapy and are on modified work duty as a result of limitations placed by doctors’ orders.
The overarching vision of HEALTHPOINTE’s physical therapy program is full recuperation and complete recovery of functional use. Our working goal is to fulfill each patient’s maximum level of functioning.
